The J.J. Pearce Excellence In Education Fund was established in 2004 by a group of parents who were concerned about the reduction in revenue in the Richardson Independent School District, due to the   recapture program mandating money be sent back to the state for redistribution. The group kicked off a fundraising campaign with informational meetings in Pearce- area homes, and quickly began gathering donations to assist the school.  RISD set up the RISD Tomorrow Fund that same year, to serve as the umbrella Fund for all Richardson Independent Schools funds. In 2008, the RISD Tomorrow Fund became the RISD Excellence in Education Fund.
