The Pearce Science Department is so thankful for all of the wonderful items received in the past for our department. Our students benefit daily from the manipulatives, lab equipment and technology that we have graciously received from the Excellence Fund.  We are really excited about this years request for big ticket items such as the electronic instructional writing tablets that will enhance our E-instruction kits.  We would not be able to obtain these types of items if it were not for your generous support.

The Excellence Fund began purchasing TI Navigator system for the Pearce Math Department 3 years ago.  These systems proved to be extremely beneficial to our students and increased student achievement dramatically.  The district saw the improvement and funded one for every other classroom at Pearce.  Thanks to the Excellence Fund Pearce teachers were able to begin implementation and set the standard of classroom excellence and innovation once again.

The fund also provided support for math teachers to attend the Teachers Teaching with Technology Convention in Dallas.  At this conference  we  learned how new technology could be used to increase student achievement.

I received a document camera this year from the Excellence Fund.  It has been a great benefit for my students in the way that I am able to present material.  It has definitely improved the quality of performance in my class.

 Novels are essential in teaching Literature!  The Pearce Excellence Fund has bought class sets of novels for a number of the English classes, such as To Kill a Mockingbird, Tuesdays with Morrie, Much Ado about Nothing.  The Pearce Excellence Fund has also given the English teachers time to conference with our students on writing – an extremely invaluable teaching tool – by paying for subs on those days.  They also pay for subs so we can grade these essays.  I am taking a web class this year from the NCTE which the Pearce Excellence Fund is paying for.  I have never done this before, so I am excited to try a new avenue for helping my students in becoming better writers.  Thank you, Pearce Excellence Fund, for helping J. J. Pearce High School to be the best!
